How To Turn On Wifi On Dell Laptop

We all need the internet to browse on whatever website but, that cannot happen if your wifi is turned off. There are simple ways to turn on your wifi on your dell laptop.

A dell laptop is a windows computer and the method for turning its WiFi on is the same method that can be performed on any windows branded laptop.

There are several ways to turn on a WiFi on a dell laptop and i will show you how soon.

This article will show your how to turn a dell WiFi on for windows 7, 8 and 10.

Before I show you how to turn your dell laptop WiFi on, make sure your dell laptop has a WiFi card that is working.

How To Turn On WiFi On Dell Laptop For Windows 7, 8 & 10

There are different method to do this specifically for each windows.

Let’s start with windows 10,

Windows 10

Here’s how to turn wifi on if you are using windows 10.

Method 1

  1. Navigate to the toolbar at the bottom right-hand corner on your dell laptop screen
  2. Click on the wireless logo among the toolbar. If you can’t see the WiFi logo among the toolbar, click on the arrow pointing upward in the toolbar to reveal the rest of your tools.
  3. Immediately you click on the toolbar, you should see a pop up revealing your WiFi, Airplane mode and on some dell laptops, Mobile Hotspots is included
  4. Make sure only WiFi is selected. Turn off airplane mode and mobile hotspot if they are on.
  5. Your dell laptop should show you the available WiFi network around you. If it doesn’t show you any available WiFi, make sure you turn on your WiFi modem if it turned off. wait for few seconds then turn off your WiFi on your dell laptop and turn it back on. The WiFi you want to connect to should be displayed now
  6. Select the WiFi network you want to connect to and click on connect
  7. If the WiFi network uses a password, you will have to input the password and then connect
  8. If an option appears asking you if you want to share the network, choose yes.

Method 2

  1. On your dell keyboard, press and hold the Windows logo key + A to open Action Center
  2. Now click on network
  3. Make sure only WiFi is selected. Turn off airplane mode and mobile hotspot if they are on.
  4. Your dell laptop should show you the available WiFi network around you. If it doesn’t show you any available WiFi, make sure you turn on your WiFi modem if it turned off. wait for few seconds then turn off your WiFi on your dell laptop and turn it back on. The WiFi you want to connect to should be displayed now
  5. Select the WiFi network you want to connect to and click on connect
  6. If the WiFi network uses a password, you will have to input the password and then connect
  7. If an option appears asking you if you want to share the network, choose yes.

  1. Navigate to your windows logo at your bottom left corner and search for WiFi settings
  2. Click on WiFi setting
  3. Turn on your WiFi
  4. Select the WiFi network you want to connect to and click on connect
  5. If the WiFi network uses a password, you will have to input the password and then connect
  6. If an option appears asking you if you want to share the network, choose yes.

Windows 8

Here’s how,

Method 1

  1. On your desktop, click on the wireless network icon in the taskbar notification area at the bottom right-hand corner.
  2. A pop up will reveal your WiFi. Turn on your WiFi and also make sure the wireless device you want to connect to is also turned on
  3. Your dell laptop should show you the available WiFi network around you. If it doesn’t show you any available WiFi, make sure you turn on your WiFi modem if it turned off. wait for few seconds then turn off your WiFi on your dell laptop and turn it back on. The WiFi you want to connect to should be displayed now
  4. Select the WiFi network you want to connect to and click on connect
  5. If the WiFi network uses a password, you will have to input the password and then connect
  6. If an option appears asking you if you want to share the network, choose yes.

Method 2

  1. Press and hold the Windows logo key + I key to open the Settings charm. ​
  2. While in the settings charm, click on the wireless network icon
  3. A pop up will reveal your WiFi. Turn on your WiFi and also make sure the wireless device you want to connect to is also turned on
  4. Your dell laptop should show you the available WiFi network around you. If it doesn’t show you any available WiFi, make sure you turn on your WiFi modem if it turned off. wait for few seconds then turn off your WiFi on your dell laptop and turn it back on. The WiFi you want to connect to should be displayed now
  5. Select the WiFi network you want to connect to and click on connect
  6. If the WiFi network uses a password, you will have to input the password and then connect
  7. If an option appears asking you if you want to share the network, choose yes.

Windows 7

Here’s how,

  1. Navigate to the bottom right-hand corner of your dell laptop screen
  2. Right-click on the power icon to reveal a popup
  3. Choose Windows Mobility Center
  4. Among the option, choose Wireless NetworkClick on Turn wireless on and wait a few seconds so it can scan for available networks.
  5. Navigate back to the bottom right-hand corner of your dell laptop and look for the network icon
  6. Left-click on the Network icon to reveal a list of the available wireless networks around you.
  7. Select the WiFi network you want to connect to and click on connect
  8. If the WiFi network uses a password, you will have to input the password and then connect
  9. If an option appears asking you if you want to share the network, choose yes
  10. The Windows Network icon should change and look like wireless signal bars
  11. If the Windows Mobility Center window is still up, it should show you that you are connected and the button for the Wireless will display Turn wireless off.  You can close this window now.
  12. Go ahead and use the internet.

If your dell laptop doesn’t display any WiFi sign at your toolbar, it means your WiFi card is bad. You can simply resolve this by buying a cheap external wireless adaptor for your dell laptop.
